Looks like Canada has topped the US’s ‘piracy watch list‘ again. Yes, the US Trade Representative have placed Canada with China, Russia, Algeria, Argentina, Chile, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand, and Venezuela Ostensibly because of declining sales and non-draconian legislation. Despite having a lower decline in sales than the States.
I don’t have the time to go into a rant about why I’m glad we’re this asinine list, but to be brief, “Consumer rights, consumer rights, consumer rights”.
Anyway, I also updated Qlocktwo again.

As many of you know, Amelia used to love sitting on top of my old monitor.

My old, warm, flat-top CRT
And, apparently, switching to a thin LCD monitor won’t stop her!

Looks fine here...

Bum down! Bum down!

Hillary’s written a great piece on the proposed Canadian bill banning niqabs.
Short version: it’s indefensible. Contact the politicians at the bottom of this page and help keep Muslim women from being repressed.
Long version: No on Bill 94.

So Rock Band 3 announced for end-of-year, some predictions:
- Basic stuff: slightly updated instruments, importing songs from RB1 and RB2.
- Mainly updates from Beatles RB: harmonies, pause countdown, etc.
- What I’m most interested in is a closer integration with Rock Bank Network. Back when Guitar Hero World Tour came out with a music creator as its big selling point, Harmonix responded that it wasn’t good enough to include in Rock Bank, not until they had improved the mechanics presented in GHWT. That RB3 is announced on the heels of RBN going public is probably not a coincidence.
- I hope for better character creation stuff. Better Body modification, more/different clothes.
- No Beatles RB song imports. It won’t happen.
- No stringed guitar controller. No matter what rumours you’ve heard, it’s to fundamental a change and too difficult to keep simple.-edit: Apparently it’s not that hard.
Also, listening to Anthony Burch’s UC Berkly talk about character development and player identity. Awesome stuff. I may not have mentioned Burch before – he is a fantastic, cleaver man. Check him out.
And, if you’re in the Ottawa area, my friend Matt has a band. I think they’re great. You should check them out.

So I just noticed that my usual permalink structure ( /news/%postname%/ ) is broken, for some reason. /news/%postid%/ seems fine, and /%year%/%postname%/ works too, but ‘static text’-slash-postname just throws 404s.
Anyone have any ideas?
